The Sandi Group (TSG) is currently seeking applicants for the position of Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) for a USAID project, based in Afghanistan for 18 months with the possibility of an extension to five years depending on funding and award of contract. The project is aimed at improving education, training and technical skills in Afghanistan to assist young men and women in acquiring jobs.
Duties: The DCOP will assist the Chief of Party (COP) in providing technical direction, program management, and oversight. While the COP works at the program level, the DCOP is responsible for day-to-day operations, or operational level personnel. The DCOP ensures that the objectives of the project are met in a timely and efficient manner, and that activities contribute directly to the overall obtainment of program goals. The DCOP helps the COP coordinate the overall financial direction of the program, and ensures the financial and human resource needs are covered by program funding and budgets. The DCOP supervises the oversight and support teams at the operational level. The DCOP is also responsible for filling-in for the COP when he/she is absent.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Technical, Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) curriculum development and Workforce Development is desired
- Minimum of 4years of overseas experience, preferably in post-conflict or developing nations
- Proven track record of project implementation and staff management for United Nations, World Bank, USAID and/or US Department of State projects
- Proven ability to work in complex environments
- Fluency in English is required
- Fluency in any of Afghanistan’s dialects is desired
